The higher education Sector bets on bringing scientific research results closer to the market

The minister affirmed, Thursday, in Algiers, the endeavour of his sector to bring scientific research closer to the market by valuing its results.
During his supervision of an information day on “saffron cultivation” at the Higher National Agronomic School in El Harrach, the minister explained that “the linking between science and the market through valuing the results of scientific research permits the improvement of productivity,” highlighting that the adoption of this interdependence in the agricultural sector enables the raising of national stakes in the field.”
“This kind of effort would support national agriculture and strengthen some products that our country can specialise in producing,” he added.
The minister referenced the Scientific and Technical Research Centre for Arid Regions results on saffron cultivation to confirm that “this globally important product could become one of the sources of national income for hard currency by unifying the efforts of researchers and producers.”
The minister praised the efforts of scientific and technological research exploitation to promote saffron production, stating that “the expansion of the digitalization of scientific research and the rational valorization of its results in agricultural production, would achieve a significant improvement in wealth creation.”
For their part, the researchers emphasized on the need to value this type of spice and its products as one of the sustainable innovative sources for the development of high-value food products and introduced Algerian saffron in various forums.
The study of the Scientific and Technological Research Centre for Arid Regions showed «very satisfactory» results for the quality of Algerian saffron. The study identified 11 provinces with high production quality of this material with: Tlemcen, Batna, Djelfa, Béjaïa and Ghardaïa leading the way.

The minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research is the guest of the second issue of the virtual seminar “Hour of Dialogue”

The second issue of the virtual seminar “Hour of Dialogue” of the High Council of Youth hosted the minister on the occasion of the celebration of Knowledge Day, which falls on April 16 of each year, where the reform efforts initiated by the sector of higher education and scientific research and its future projects were addressed.
During this seminar, which was organised on Monday, the minister answered, in an atmosphere of transparency and democracy, the questions of the youth of Algeria from the inside and abroad about a number of axes directly related to the reform efforts initiated by the sector of higher education and scientific research, which allowed them to discuss the current issues of the sector and view the content of the future projects that he supervises the planning and implementation.
On this occasion, the minister insisted on “the need for the student to exhibit his innovative idea by creating a micro-enterprise and seriously contributing to the development of the national economy by creating jobs in various fields, such as industry, energy, and agriculture,” recalling the existence of “draft legal texts that will soon be embodied to support the employment of postdoctoral students”.
In the same context, he stressed “the importance of strengthening the partnership between the university and economic institutions to enhance training and give opportunities to students to interact with the professional world and learn about the procedures of creating their own micro-enterprises.” He also highlighted “the importance of promoting the teaching of artificial intelligence and improving university services, especially university transportation, by digitalizing it.”
For his part, the president of the High Council of Youth, Mustapha Hidaoui, stressed that “the Algerian youth have today charted, through such initiatives, a new path of dialogue and participatory democracy, communication, and exchange of ideas.”
Along the same lines, he pointed out that the Council “will later organise other meetings with different sectors related to the youth category to preserve this upscale tradition,” highlighting “the importance of the optimal use of modern technology in communication and transactions and promoting the values of digital citizenship among the Algerian youth. As he said, is an embodiment of the aspirations of the political will aiming to achieve the best interest of youth through strengthening their position in the management and evaluation of public affairs and including them in the decision-making process.”

During this visit, the most important results of the National Research Projects NRP were presented, including the following:
– Solar and photovoltaic plants cleaning system,
– Solar powered treated water purification system,
– Solar cooling for solar poultry farming barn,
– Solar energy barley cultivating room,
– Smart model farm,

 
In addition, subsidiary institutions and technological platforms of the Centre were introduced.

During this visit, the Center presented its most important activities and research results for 2023.


The minister visited various research laboratories, start-up laboratories and prototype exhibitions,
and visited, also, economic subsidiaries, the Consultation, Research and Development Office, and spin-off companies.

The minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Kamel Baddari, oversaw, today, March 26, 2024, the launch of two new digital platforms. The first, “INCHIGHALATI”, focuses on the interests and concerns of students residing in university residences. It simplifies operations for students regarding requests for services related to accommodation, dining, transportation, and university scholarships, making these requests more efficient while ensuring the effective execution of services provided by university services sector officials.


As for the second platform, the “Digital Incubator,” the first of its kind in the Maghreb region, its role is to assist and support students with innovative ideas in transforming them into startups. It also aims to guide students and assist them in the field of entrepreneurship and technological innovation.

This visit included the inauguration of the Digital Innovation facility, which contains:
-An advanced data centre with high specifications,
-An academic space for collaborative work,
-A digital innovative Facility that includes: a business incubator, and an entrepreneurship space for the stimulation and motivation of innovation and entrepreneurship, which in turn contains: a patent office, a Technology and Innovation Support Center (CATI), and an office of external relations.

During this visit, the minister inspected new products for research and development that are the subject of partnership between the Centre and national public and private institutions, including a solar hydrogen production station and optical technologies, a platform for the automatic characterization of electronic components and the development of fuel converter components for cars and a platform for testing carbon monoxide detectors and other designs.

On February 29, 2024, The minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Kamel Baddari, with Minister of Knowledge Economy and Start-ups, Mr. Yacine El-Mahdi Oualid, carried out a working and inspection visit to the Province of Aïn Temouchent, during which he confirmed that the Algerian university, through its inventions and creativity constitute a local locomotive for local and national development.

The minister declared, during his visit to the University of Belhadj Bouchaib in Ain Temouchent, that the Algerian University, through its innovation and creativity constitute a locomotive of local and national development, and gives Algeria that international status that shines over the various societies of the world.

During his meeting with university family in Ain Temouchent, the minister explained that the university is considered as a social institution and one of the pillars of the Algerian social system, which is an integral part of local and national society.

He also added that the inventions and creativity of students to create wealth, whether in the field of creating star-ups or microenterprises generating employment, are a fulfilment of the Commitment 41 of the commitments of the president of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who makes the university a locomotive of local and national development.

An agreement was signed between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Algerian Economic Renewal Council

On Tuesday, at the ministry’s headquarters, an agreement was signed between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Algerian Economic Renewal Council to strengthen the partnership between the University and research centres with economic institutions,
This agreement was signed by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Kamel Baddari, and the president of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council, Mr. Kamel Moula.

The Minister explained that the signing of this agreement would “open the door of partnership between the higher education and scientific research sector, and the economic institutions represented by the Council”, highlighting the role of the university in training human resources, which are the capital of the economic institutions in achieving national development goals.

The minister ensured that all the research means are put at the disposal of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council to achieve innovation that serves the interest of national economy and answers the requirements of society.

The minister also indicated that this agreement would achieve “a technological advancement that allows the exploitation of researcher’s innovations and open the door to the youth, especially students.”

Ceremony honouring 17 elite student athletes who won medals at the international competitions

On February 26, 2024, at the University of Algiers 3, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Kamel Baddari, oversaw a ceremony honouring 17 elite student athletes who won medals at the international competitions held in January 2024.
During this ceremony, the minister said: “Today, we celebrate together the honouring of the decorated athletes during the sports competitions that we gave the starting signal to on September, 2023. The results began to appear, and the rate of participation of the student athletes in different national teams in all sports and disciplines has reached nearly 50%. Positive results for the participation of Algerian students in these teams, which represent Algerian sports locally, nationally, and internationally.
The minister also highlighted the support and interest paid by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to university sports, which is, according to the president: “a reservoir for the national elite,”pointing out that, in accordance with the outputs of the council of ministers held on April 16, 2023, where the president of the Republic instructed the need to encourage university sports so that we can be a national elite representing Algeria in international events, a soft power that dazzles the world with science and sports, and a light that illuminates the international community through the participation of Algerian students in various competitions.
