Inauguration of the Faculty of Letters and Languages at the University of Larbi Ben M’hidi

The minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Kamel Baddari, inaugurated today, June 10, 2024, at the University Larbi Ben M’hidi, the Faculty of Letters and Languages (3000 pedagogical seats). He also inspected the annex of the faculty of medicine at the university, which opened at the beginning of the academic year (2023-2024) and has 251 students.
“We strive to continue along the path of local development in the field of higher education and scientific research, especially the establishment of infrastructure,” he said, referring to the Faculty of Letters and Languages, which he and the local authorities inaugurated.
In this context, the minister highlighted that these infrastructures, including the newly opened Faculty of Letters and Languages and the medical annex he visited at the occasion, will strengthen the university courses in this province. Meanwhile, he praised the innovative and creative creations of students, including languages and the mastery of computer software, which will “build a modern university that serves as a scientific platform to publish knowledge by new methods, and be open to its social and economic environment, and serves the citizens and the local authorities”.
In line with the 41st engagement of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, which was actually fulfilled at the University of “Larbi Ben M’hidi” in Oum El Bouaghi, he declared that “the Algerian university must be a leader, creative and innovative,” adding that “acquiring these characteristics will qualify it to become the locomotive of local and national development, and international presence.”
The minister began his visit at Oum El Bouaghi by inspecting the “Larbi Ben M’hidi” University complex interfaces, which include a business incubator, an entrepreneurship development centre and the House of artificial intelligence. During his visit, he encouraged the work of project holders and invited them to consider the markets that will host their projects within the framework of the university-market relationship.
He reassured that with the support of the local authorities and different other ministries such as the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Start-ups and Micro Enterprises, these projects will be funded in order to transform them into manufactured and marketable products.
The faculty of Letters and Languages covers the area of 37 000 m2, 11 950 m2 when built, it houses 29 classrooms, 06 lecture halls in addition to an administrative wing and a library. A budget of more than 1 billion 290 million DZD has been allocated for its construction
