The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Kamel Baddari, visited on the afternoon of May 20, 2026, the Algiers International Tourism and Travel Exhibition, as well as the 24th edition of the SIPSA International Agriculture Exhibition.
This visit is part of the sector’s efforts to strengthen the university’s openness to its economic and social environment and to encourage students to implement innovative projects with added value, thereby promoting a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation within the university community.
During the visit, the minister toured the stands of participating start-ups and small enterprises, where he reviewed several student-led projects and innovations, particularly in the fields of tourism, agriculture, and technological innovation. He also exchanged views with project leaders on their entrepreneurial initiatives and their role in supporting economic development.
The minister also stopped at the stand of the National Higher School of Agronomy, where he received explanations about saffron produced within the framework of the national strategy for the development and promotion of saffron cultivation, known for its high quality. The results achieved through the national research project on the valorization of local seeds, as well as the project’s future prospects, were also presented.
As part of the presentation of an innovative project carried out under Ministerial Decision 1275, involving a digital platform for the electronic identification of fruit trees in agricultural fields, using the olive tree as a model, Mr. Kamel Baddari stressed the importance of taking farmers’ needs into account in order to ensure the marketability and practical valorization of the project’s outcomes.
The project “Nutri D’or,” specialized in the food industry and derived from carob products, was also presented and is expected to be marketed through a start-up company.
