Significant progress for the higher education to modernize the Algerian University

On Saturday, June 29, 2024, in Khenchela, the minister of Higher education and Scientific Research, Mr. Kamel Baddari affirmed, that his sector has recorded a significant progress to modernize the Algerian University.
During a working and inspection visit to this province, the minister oversaw the closing ceremony of the academic year (2023-2024), and honoured the distinguished students at the grand conference room at Abbes Laghrour University. He stressed that “the Algerian University has achieved all the objectives fixed by the president of the Republic, in particular the commitment 41 which aims at making the Algerian University a reference in education, development and creativity thanks to employees, students, officials and managers.”
He added that “the Algerian University transformed itself in a short period of time into a university for the dissemination of knowledge and scientific research, by transmitting it from a generation to another, and a temple creating wealth through the entrepreneurship generated by the sector for the last two years and whose results are real,” adding that “the university is now open to the local community and its citizens, since it is currently meeting their needs and those of the economies of different provinces.”
He pointed that the sector of higher education and scientific research has been able, in year and a half, to have 107 incubators, 91 technological and innovation support centres, 51 artificial intelligence houses, 33 fabrication laboratories, in addition to 11 800 innovative projects registered, and 500 projects labelled “innovative projects”, counting 5000 projects registered on the “Startup dz” platform and 1700 patents applications. These figures affirm that the Algerian university has “transformed itself into a temple of production and transmission of knowledge.”
The minister affirmed that his sector will continue to work during the next academic year (2024-2025) in order to prepare a university and scientific research of the fourth generation in a new phase of the new Algeria.
The minister had inaugurated the annex of the medical faculty at the Abbes Lghrour University, where he affirmed that the said inauguration is a response to the promise of the president of the Republic during his meeting with civil society actors during his visit to the province on May 30. This is to allow these students to study medicine in their province from the next academic year.
He also inaugurated the House of Artificial Intelligence at Abbes Lghrour University, where he listened to explanations related to this space, he then explained that this structure will contribute to the strengthening of the role of Algeria in this field, affirming the need to implicate students, creators and innovators in this endeavour.
While inspecting the progress of some projects of the sector, the minister ordered the acceleration of the pace of two construction projects, one of research laboratory at the University of Abbes Laghrour and a 4000 pedagogical seats at the Abdelhak-Rafik Bererhi University Pole, while taking into account the norms to put them into service as soon as possible, to benefit the university students and researchers in various disciplines.
During his visit to the construction site in Abdelhak-Rafik Bererhi university pole, the minister was briefed of some works of students in the framework of startups, innovative projects and patents. He inaugurated the new university residence of 2000 beds in the municipality of Khenchela, where he revealed that digitalization of the sector of university services permitted the rationalization of expenses in this sector and the improvement of services quality.
