Conclusion of university scientific, cultural and physical activities

The minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Kamel Baddari, presented awards to the winners of university competitions and contests and scientific, cultural and physical activities, organized by the Direction of Student life of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for 2023-2024. The minister presided over the ceremony with the attendance of senior members of education from different universities and departments under the Ministry’s supervision.
At this celebration held on Tuesday, 25 June 2024, at the auditorium of the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management at the University of Algiers 3 in Dely Brahim, Algiers, the minister reminded during his speech that “half a million students took part in scientific, cultural and physical activities this year. He went on to praise the strategic objectives drafted by the Algerian university, and also highlighted “the fruitful harvest of the New Algeria seed sown by the president of the Republic Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune.”
Supporting the role of Algerian University in strengthening this new promising calling, the minister stated that “through the mastery of technology and knowledge, Algerian students will succeed in bringing Algeria to a safe harbour.”
After reminding that the university is “a space where the students from different regions of Algeria can come together and interact”, he announced that three Algerian students are among the athletes qualified for the Olympic Games of 2024.
For his part, Mr. Azzedine Rebiga, the sub-director of university activities, stated that between 22 and 25 June, approximately fifteen categories participated in various contests and competitions that commenced on September 19, 2023, at the University of Algiers 3. These categories are the centre of this ceremony that “represents only a small fraction of the intensive programme of scientific, cultural and physical activities in universities.”
In a convivial atmosphere, the accolade of the best robotic programmer was attributed to Joumana Gharbi from the university of Biskra for her project “Bus-Link”, and application that streamlines the desired university transport.
In the field of literature, the students Roumaissa Souaidia from Ouargla, Mohamed Lamine Guenna from Ghardaïa, Hanane Ben Salem from Setif, and Ghania Khelifi from Oran won the first prizes for the best “Reading challenge”, “Author-poet”, “Novel” and “Prose”, respectively. As for sports, the title of football champions, for men and women for the season of 2023-2024, was won by the university city of Oum El Bouaghi.
In Basketball, Volleyball and Handball, for men and women, the university cities took home the first prize on the podium. The teams of Algiers (women), Ain Temouchent (men), Bejaia (women), Setif (men), Tizi Ouzou (women), and Algiers (men) respectively ranked first in their categories, and honoured by the minister and the various university officials who accompanied him.
Prior to the ceremony, a short documentary about scientific, cultural and sports activities was shown on the big screen of the auditorium, following the visit of the minister to different pavilions of the exhibition. It included about fifteen universities from across Algeria, where various students’ works and activities in literature, poetry, calligraphy, robotics, scientific experiments, environment protection and plastic arts were highlighted.
