A new University Pole in Tebessa

Thursday, June 27, 2024, the minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Kamel Baddari, inaugurated the new University Pole, Chahid Drid Abdelmadjid, in the commune of Boulhaf Dir in Tébessa.
On the sideline of the working and inspection visit conducted to this province, with the minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructures, Mr. Lakhdar Rekhroukh, the minister declared that “Tebessa is stronger with this university building which will allow students to carry out their studies and scientific research in the best conditions, which contributes directly to the training of scientific researchers and innovative students who integrate into scientific life to contribute to the realization of development path in this border province, closely linked to the sector of higher education and scientific research.”
The minister added that the inauguration of this structure, equipped with facilities and services, lies within the framework of the government programme of 2021-2024, aiming at strengthening the student enrolment capacity by providing all the necessary services and facilities. “ The University of Tébessa has reached all operational objectives related to the programme of the president of the Republic, in particular the engagement 41which aims at making the university a space for development and creativity,” noting that “all the objectives were successfully met in the field of higher education and scientific research, entrepreneurship and innovation,” he added.
According to explanations provided on site, in the presence of the Wali of Tébessa, Mr. Saïd Khelil, the local director of public equipments, Mr. Brahim Baouta revealed that this structure, which strengthens the higher education and scientific research sector, extends over nearly 45 hectares, with a budget of over 4 billion DZD. The pole includes, 8000 pedagogical seats, divided between the two faculties of letters and languages, and human and social sciences and the Institute of sports and Physical activities.
The pole has 16 auditoriums, 95 classes, a library, an administration building, 200 offices for teachers and spaces for science clubs.
The minister exchanged with many students on the sidelines of the exhibition organized at the same university pole of startups and innovative projects, there he stressed the necessity to expand entrepreneurial and innovation culture among university students, and support them in their scientific research, exhorting them to implement their projects, especially those holding patents and innovative projects label.
The minister also instructed the local authorities to create an appropriate atmosphere, and assist students during the different steps of their projects’ implementation.
