The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, congratulated, through his official account, the higher education and scientific research sector on the inclusion of two Algerian universities in the 2026 QS World University Rankings by Subject.

These are the University of Science and Technology Houari Boumediene and Djillali Liabès University of Sidi Bel Abbès. This achievement represents a significant milestone for the sector, as Algerian universities appear for the first time in the QS World University Rankings by Subject, achieving the following results:

• 1^st place in the Maghreb for the University of Science and Technology Houari Boumediene in Petroleum Engineering, ranked among the top 101–150 universities worldwide.
• 1^st place in the Maghreb for the same university in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, ranked among the top 401–450 universities worldwide.
• 1^st place in the Maghreb for the same university in Computer Science and Information Systems, ranked among the top 651–700 universities worldwide.
• 1^st place in the Maghreb for Djillali Liabès University of Sidi Bel Abbès in Mechanical, Aeronautical and Manufacturing Engineering, ranked among the top 401–450 universities worldwide.

This ranking is a strong indicator of the progress in scientific research and the improvement in the quality of academic training, and reflects the efforts made to develop Algerian universities and enhance their position in international rankings in recent years.
