Mr. Kamel Baddari Inspects the University of “Benyoucef Benkhedda” Algiers 1

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Kamel Baddari, carried out today, March 5, 2026, a working and inspection visit to the University of “Benyoucef Benkhedda” Algiers 1.

During the visit, the Minister inaugurated the university’s business incubator as well as a smart room for professors. He also inspected several innovative projects initiated by students.

During his meeting with members of the university community, Mr. Baddari stressed that the university has become a value-adding driver for the innovative and digital economy, given its important role in wealth creation, in line with the strategic vision of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, for the period (2024–2029), particularly with regard to strengthening the economic role of universities.

He also emphasized that the University of Algiers 1 “is steadily moving toward a fourth-generation university” and seeks “to enable students to materialize their creative ideas by creating start-ups and obtaining patents that can be commercially exploited.”

In the same context, he noted that the university records “seven distinctions awarded to innovative institutions or projects, 27 micro-enterprises, and three (3) economic subsidiaries.”

In order to support innovation and entrepreneurship pathways, the University of Algiers 1 signed six agreements with economic, knowledge, and banking institutions. This initiative aims to facilitate students’ field internships, support and mentor start-ups, and assist holders of university ideas and projects as well as micro-enterprises through advisory services and training.
