On 13 October 2025, Mr. Kamel Baddari, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, presided over the inauguration ceremony for the 2025/2026 academic year at the National Higher School for Teachers of the Deaf and Mute (ENSSM) in Beni Messous.
In a statement on the occasion, Mr. Kamel Baddari asserted that Algeria has risen to the challenge by establishing the first school at the African and the Arab levels, dedicated to training secondary school teachers to instruct the deaf and mute. This school has now become an example of success, having graduated 530 teachers to date, benefiting 47 provinces.
The minister added that school’s future prospects seem promising, as it intends to graduate 1,500 teachers by the year 2027, who will be posted in 58 provinces. The number is anticipated to reach 2,500 teachers by 2029.
Notably, in addition to ensuring the educational aspect, the school ventured into the field of economic development, graduating 56 male and female entrepreneurs, who have successfully launched their projects and innovative ideas.
