Algeria's Efforts to Activate the Role of University and Technological Development

As representative of the President of the Republic of Algeria Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune in the ‘G77+ China’ summit, held in Havana(Cuba)–on September 15 and 16, 2023– the minister of higher education and scientific research, Mr. Kamel Baddari, presented –during his intervention to the participants–the ‘significant efforts’ made by Algeria to the development of the fields of higher education and scientific research,as well as start-ups and entrepreneurship; by ‘the activation of university institutions’ role , as being a reservoir for innovative projects and an essential source for developing start-ups’.Mr. Baddari also added that ‘ the activation of university role is related to ‘the establishment of an integrated national research network, which would comprise university research centers and laboratories, experimental stations and technological platforms in different fields’. Noting to ‘ the establishment of remarkable technological poles, which include specialized higher schools, major institutions, and start-ups. In addition to the creation of the higher council for artificial intelligence and the higher commission of digitalization’; aiming at creating change in the economic ecosystem and set the basis for technological awareness’.
As for the African continent support endeavors, Mr. Baddari stated that ‘ Algeria has provided a support of one billion US dollar for attributing sustainable development in the developing African states, as it has contributed to the improvement of the infrastructures in Africa, as had been achieved in regard ofthe optical fibers projects across many African countries, as well as the trans-African highway’.
Mr. Baddari, on the occasion, reasserted ‘ the Algerian support to the initiatives of ‘G77+ China’, which aim at the development of science, technologies and innovation for achieving the objectives set for development. As he expressed Algeria’s readiness for experts exchange with developing countries for a better future in Africa’.
Within the framework of bilateral meetingson the sideline of the ‘G77+ China’ summit, held in Havana, Cuba, Mr. KamelBaddari, the minister of higher education and scientific research discussed ways of strengthening bilateral cooperation with his Chilean counterpart, the minister of higher education and research, Mrs. Aisén Etcheverry, in the field of higher formation and education, along with scientific research. Particularly in the field of science, modern technology, innovation, renewable energies, high technologies, green hydrogen. As they discussed ways of valorizingrelations between both countries in order to achieve economic development.
